Design and Function

In this system, wastewater flows into the open front side of the screen, passing through the screening elements on the left and right sides (when viewed in the direction of flow). Solids are retained on the inner surfaces of these elements, gradually causing the surface to blind and creating a difference in water levels within the channel. When the water level upstream reaches a set point, the cleaning cycle initiates. The filter elements begin circulating, lifting the captured solids out of the channel.

In the screen's upper section, a spray nozzle bar directs water from the outside of the screening elements to the inside dislodging solids, which are then flushed into an internal trough located at the top of the screen. From there, the collected screenings are discharged by gravity for further treatment, typically in a HUBER Wash Press WAP®.

Technical data

  • Perforated plate: 1 ‒ 10 mm
  • Star-type perforated plate: 1 ‒ 2 mm
  • Mesh: 0.5 ‒ 1 mm
  • Completely made of stainless steel, pickled in an acid bath

Model Variations

CenterMax® pp - perforated plate screen

The HUBER Band Screen CenterMax® pp is a perforated plate screen specifically designed with perforations ranging from 1 to 10 mm. This model offers high separation efficiency, effectively retaining fine particles like fibers and hair.

Typical applications for 1 and 2 mm perforation:
- Ideal for protecting hollow-fiber membrane filtration plants

Typical applications for 3 mm perforation:
- Suited for protecting plate membrane filtration plants

CenterMax® Star - folded perforated plate screen

The HUBER Band Screen CenterMax® Star is a folded perforated plate screen available with 1, 1.5, and 2 mm perforations. Its folded design increases the screen surface area, allowing for higher throughputs while maintaining high separation efficiency and effective retention of fibers and hair.

Typical applications:
- Primarily used for the protection of membrane filtration plants

CenterMax® mesh - square mesh screen

The HUBER Band Screen CenterMax® Mesh is a square mesh screen with mesh sizes ranging from 0.2 to 0.75 mm. This configuration delivers maximum separation efficiency and can achieve a 20–40% reduction in COD (Chemical Oxygen Demand) and BOD (Biochemical Oxygen Demand), enhancing overall treatment effectiveness.

Typical applications:
- Load reduction in the preliminary treatment stage
- Replacement for primary settlement tank
- River and sea outfall applications

CenterMax® HYBRID

HUBER Band Screen CenterMax® HYBRID with perforated plate, perforations from 2 mm and 6 mm.
High separation efficiency and retention of fibers and hair.
Plastic elements reduce hair pinning.

Typical applications for 2 mm perforation:
- Protection for all membrane filtration plants

Typical applications for 6 mm perforation:
- For any process requiring high capture and high throughput
