Both ends of the cleaning elements are securely connected to drive chains, which are powered by sprockets on a common shaft and a flange-mounted gear motor. Additionally, the precise meshing of the cleaning rakes with the bar rack guarantees high operational reliability. An electro-mechanical overload protection system (spring assembly with deflection monitoring) reliably ensures that the process is interrupted when the preset overload is reached, or in case of a blockage. Model Variants and Options RakeMax® J The RakeMax® J screen is a modified version of the proven HUBER RakeMax® screen. In contrast to the standard RakeMax® design version, the RakeMax® J screen does not have straight bars, the screen bars are bent in the bottom section, i.e. curved towards the sewer base. It is also this special form of the screen bars which gives the screen its name as the letter ‚J‘ has approximately the same shape as the curved screen bars. The screen rake moves along the curvature of the screen bars and describes a segment of a circle in this section. The flat inclination angle of the screen bars in the sewer base section increases the cross-sectional flow area of the screen with the result of reduced hydraulic losses and a reduced flow velocity in the gaps between the screen bars. RakeMax® HF The RakeMax® HF effectively combines the proven advantages of the RakeMax® with the benefits of a screen featuring a bar rack installed at a minimal inclination. The RakeMax® HF has a L-shaped design with two different screen sections: The flat bottom section provides a large screening surface and favorable hydraulic conditions, the steep conveying section ensures screening on a small footprint. Due to the extremely flat installation of the bar rack of 30° the screen section through which the flow passes is always double the depth of the approaching flow. Material removal from the screen starts virtually right at the bar rack mounted flat to the channel bottom so that any accumulation of unwanted material is eliminated. Design and Function The HUBER Basket Screen CageLift prevents such blockage, the entanglement of debris and damage of equipment as it removes the material. The screen can be installed in a manhole prior to pumps, the size depending on the inflow rate and depth. The sturdy, stable basket screen with bar spacing from 20mm to 80mm retains the floating debris at the sewer outlet. The screen bottom plate is perforated to allow static dewatering of the retained material. When a certain amount of material has accumulated, the screen basket is lifted upwards by an electric chain hoist. The vertical basket movement is supported by a stable carrier and guide rails. These rails are curved in the upper section to ensure a partly automatic discharge into a suitable container. Design and function of the HUBER Band Screen DualMax® The HUBER Band Screen DualMax® is a screen with stainless steel screen elements and a flow from the outside to the inside of the channel. The screening elements, available in mesh or perforated plate designs with various separation sizes, are tailored to meet specific requirements. These elements are linked to a chain driven by a motor. The chain is guided along a track in the lower section and a chain wheel at the upper end of the machine, ensuring smooth and reliable operation. During operation, dirt particles accumulate on the screening elements and are transported upward by their motion. A spray nozzle system positioned ahead of the screening elements removes these particles, directing them into an externally positioned launder channel for discharge. Coarse dirt particles that do not stick to the screening elements are also carried upward by additional carrier bars integrated into the screening design. For environmental reasons, the machine can be equipped with fish buckets as an option to protect aquatic life. The DualMax® design allows contaminated water to flow into the machine from both sides through the filter elements and exit through the output, significantly reducing turbulent flows downstream of the fine screening machine. This minimizes the distance to the pump, enabling a shorter on-site channel. The robust frame design of the DualMax® ensures safe and economical water withdrawal while optimizing installation time and reducing construction requirements. Design and Function of the HUBER Band Screen DiscMax® The HUBER Band Screen DiscMax® is used as a fine screen for the treatment of river, lake and sea water in various applications, including: Use as cooling water in thermal power plants Process and cooling water in the paper industry and other industries Raw water for seawater desalination Process and cooling water in chemical plants and refineries Raw water for drinking water supply Use for irrigation in agriculture The HUBER Band Screen DiscMax® is a direct-flow screen with crescent-shaped screen elements. Depending on the requirement profile, the screening elements can be supplied in mesh or perforated plate design with different separation sizes. The screening elements are attached to a chain driven by a motor. The chain is guided along a track in the lower section and around a chain wheel in the upper section of the machine. During operation, dirt particles accumulate on the screening elements and are transported upward by their motion. A spray nozzle system located behind the screening elements removes these particles, directing them into a launder. Larger debris that does not adhere to the screening elements is also transported upward by carrier bars integrated into the screening elements. To improve its corrosion properties, the screen can be optimized for salt water applications through the choice of material or the selection of suitable corrosion protection systems. In this system, fish approaching the HUBER Band Screen DiscMax® are gently scooped up by buckets attached to the machine's screening elements. These buckets are made from a specialized plastic material to ensure the fish are transported safely and gently in the water. The fish are then carefully transported with the water into a separate launder and returned to the natural water body.
