[...]Faroe Islands The Faroe Islands are probably known mainly to nature lovers with a penchant for rather unusual destinations. So it was initially something interesting and different for a change when HUBER received an enquiry in mid-2017 for a faecal sludge treatment plant for predominantly domestic sludge. At least 10,000 t of sludge were to be received annually, screened and then dewatered to ≥ 35 % dry residue (DR). Transport with suction and tanker vehicles What makes this project special is first and foremost the input DR: The sludge is collected island-wide with suction and tanker vehicles[...]

[...]Varna, Bulgaria The Bulgarian Black Sea Coast along the city of Varna with 300,000 residents is an important economic factor, especially due to its touristic potential. The European Union decided in 2002 to give aid money for the protection of the Black Sea, in particular for upgrading and building new local sewage treatment plants. The capacity of the sewage treatment plant at Varna could therefore be expanded to 450,000 PE and equipped with state-of-the-art technology. The main intention was to minimise the direct discharge of untreated wastewater to the Black Sea. They wanted to achieve that [...]

[...]Germany Membrane systems, especially membrane bioreactors (MBR), are wastewater treatment technologies that combine biological processes with membrane filtration. These systems are used in some sewage treatment plants instead of the conventional activated sludge process. A typical MBR system consists of a biological reactor in which microorganisms break down organic matter and a membrane filtration unit that separates the purified water from the solids. Solids separation prior to membrane filtration To ensure optimum performance, membranes must be protected from large solids. For this purpose, [...]
[...]Germany In times of global uncertainty, rising raw material prices and growing environmental requirements, the recycling of plastics is becoming increasingly important. However, producing new materials from fossil fuels is often still cheaper than recycling. This makes the quality of the recycled material and the cost-effectiveness of the entire plastic recycling process all the more crucial. This is precisely where HUBER comes in. Our technologies for treating process water and sludge provide the basis for sustainable and economical recycling processes. Advantages of HUBER technology based on [...]

[...]Vilshofen, Germany At the start of 2026, a comprehensive one-off plant maintenance was carried out on the HUBER machines at the Vilshofen sewage treatment works in Lower Bavaria. Designed for a population equivalent of 56,000, the plant is operated by Vilshofen Municipal Wastewater Services. During normal plant operation, one or two staff members are usually on site. Since 2007, the sewage treatment works has used two HUBER Rotary Drum Fine Screen ROTAMAT® Ro2 1000/5 units and one HUBER Coanda Grit Washer RoSF4/2. These are supplemented by two vortex washers from a third-party manufacturer. As part[...]
