Thickening results greater than 7% dry solids are achieved in typical municipal applications with a polymer consumption of 6-10 lbs.a/DT (dry ton) / 3-5 g/kg, and spray water demand is approximately 40 GPM / 25 l/m³.
Different system sizes are available for throughputs from 88 - 440 GPM / 20 - 100 m³/h per unit.
Design and Function
The HUBER Screw Thickener S-DRUM features a flocculation reactor with a stirrer to ensure efficient sludge treatment. The thickener consists of a cylindrical wedge-section basket that retains the solids from the incoming sludge.
A slowly rotating, variable-speed screw gently conveys the solids upward through the inclined basket, allowing water to drain through the basket. The degree of thickening can be adjusted by a height-adjustable weir plate at the sludge discharge and by varying the screw speed.
A rotating spray bar periodically cleans the wedge wire from the outside during screw operation, ensuring continuous performance.
