HUBER Complete Plant ROTAMAT® Ro5 The original with well-proven mechanical wastewater pre-treatment components in one machine

Design and Function

The ROTAMAT® Ro5 is an all-in-one, robust, and efficient solution tailored for the complete mechanical pretreatment of wastewater.
Fine screening
Depending on the specific conditions and data, such as peak flow, screenings load and grit load, one of the following HUBER screens is selected:
- HUBER Fine Screen ROTAMAT® Ro1 ‒ Bar spacing 6 or 10 mm
- HUBER Rotary Drum Fine Screen ROTAMAT® Ro2 ‒ Bar spacing 1 - 6 mm
- HUBER Micro Strainer ROTAMAT® Ro9 ‒ Bar spacing 1 - 6 mm
- HUBER Multi-Rake Bar Screen RakeMax® ‒ Bar spacing 2 - 10 mm
- HUBER Belt Screen Esca Max® ‒ Perforation 3.5 - 10 mm
- HUBER Fine Screen STEP SCREEN® SSF ‒ Slot width 3 or 6 mm
Other separation sizes can be supplied on demand. Separate details are available for all of these machines.
Screenings treatment
The HUBER Fine Screen ROTAMAT® Ro1, Rotary Drum Fine Screen ROTAMAT® Ro2, and Micro Strainer ROTAMAT® Ro9 are equipped with an integrated screenings press for dewatering and compaction, eliminating the need for a separate wash press. Additionally, screenings washing can be achieved with the optional IRGA unit. These systems can achieve a solids concentration of up to 45% DS in the screenings.
For HUBER Fine Screen STEP SCREEN® SSF, HUBER Belt Screen EscaMax® a separate HUBER Wash Press WAP® is usually installed behind these HUBER screens. Solids concentration of screenings, depending on the WAP® type used: up to 50% DS.
Grit separation
The grit channels of the HUBER Complete Plant ROTAMAT® Ro5 units are designed to meet international standards or customized to the specific requirements of the customer. These grit channels are available in both aerated and unaerated configurations. The choice between aerated or unaerated channels depends on several factors, including the storm-to-dry weather flow ratio and the potential for additional grit treatment systems.
Grit removal and discharge
The settled grit is collected from the bottom of the grit channel using a horizontal grit screw. This screw transports the grit to an inclined grit screw, where it is further conveyed, agitated, and dewatered. The classified grit is then discharged from the upper end of the inclined screw and directed into the HUBER Coanda Grit Washer RoSF4 T for further washing and treatment. If necessary, the material can also be pumped to the grit washer, ensuring flexibility depending on the system setup and operational requirements.
Grease separation and removal (optional)
The separation of fats and grease in the HUBER Complete Plant ROTAMAT® Ro5 is made possible through the use of aerated grit channels. In this system, the grease is collected in a separate chamber, with the partition between the grit trap chamber and the grease chamber being a slotted scum board. The aeration system within the grit trap chamber generates a flow that transports the grease through the slotted scum board into the grease chamber. Unlike many other systems, the HUBER plant employs a paddle scraper to efficiently remove the floating fats and oils. This paddle, made of stainless steel, is slowly drawn across the surface of the water using a rope mechanism. The paddle is specially shaped to ensure that virtually all floating matter is removed from the grease trap. This method prevents the anaerobic degradation of fat and grease, which can otherwise lead to unpleasant odors and other operational issues. This system provides an effective solution for grease removal, ensuring cleaner effluent and a more hygienic operation while reducing the risk of odor nuisance and the need for costly maintenance.
Optional integrated grit washing
In this setup, the horizontal grit conveyor directly transports the separated grit fractions into a grit washer integrated at the outlet of the Complete Plant. Upwardly directed service water is introduced to fluidize the grit at the bottom of the washer, allowing the lighter organic particles to separate from the denser grit. This separation process is assisted by a rabble rake. Once the organic material is removed, the clean grit is automatically conveyed by a classifying screw, dewatered statically, and discharged into a container.
