The term "surface-watertight” means that the manhole cover is protected against the ingress of natural precipitation such as rain or other surface water that occurs without pressure.

The cover is made of stainless steel plate, with a centrally raised profile, robust external hinges, stainless steel gas assisted spring damper, integrated arrestor which can only be undone by hand, handle, circumferential rubber seal (frost-proof and weather-resistant) fixed in a slot, central lock and protective hood of brass, which can only be opened with a special key.
A connection for potential equalisation is provided.
The frame consists of an angle section 50/50 mm for bolted fixing, with two internal lift locks. Manhole cover and frame shielded arc-welded, acid-treated in a pickling bath and passivated. Fixing material, gasket strip and operating key included.
