On Wednesday, 19 April, HUBER SE inaugurated the new production hall P3 at the company’s headquarters in Berching/Erasbach. HUBER’s Executive Board and Supervisory Board inaugurated the new hall in the presence of Bavaria’s State Minister of Finance and Home Affairs Albert Füracker, District Administrator of Neumarkt i.d.OPf. Willibald Gailler, Berching’s Second Mayor Christian Meissner and the companies involved in the construction works.
A good 30 years after the construction of the first production hall at the Berching/Erasbach site, HUBER is taking another big step towards a successful future. Back then, in 1992, the company had relocated from Berching’s city centre to its current headquarters in the Erasbach industrial park. Numerous production expansions followed until today.
Minister of Finance and Home Affairs Albert Füracker: “50-year success story”
“Bavaria is proud of its strong medium-sized companies and its successful family businesses. HUBER SE looks back on a success story of more than 150 years. Today’s inauguration of the new production area in Berching shows that HUBER SE, as one of the internationally most important companies for innovative solutions in the field of water management, is and remains firmly rooted in the Upper Palatinate. The extensive investment in the production site at the company headquarters in Berching is a clear and important signal of entrepreneurial conviction and confidence in our business location Bavaria. Family-owned companies like HUBER SE are the backbone of the Bavarian economy and ensure stability with investments even in unsteady times. A big thank you to everyone who has contributed to the successful construction of the new production hall over the past twelve months,” said Albert Füracker, Minister of Finance and Home Affairs, in his speech.
Production hall P3 comprises 7,000 m² of space
In the future, the new production hall P3 will be used primarily as a hall for shell construction and welding work. With a production area of approx. 6,000 m², it offers space for 80 employees, and also includes around 1,000 m² of social area with break and meeting rooms and offices. The new hall is optimally integrated into the factory traffic, among other things, by means of a truck hall passageway.
A photovoltaic system on the entire roof area will provide sustainable energy for the production hall. The P3 enables further production growth at the site and the abolition of shift work as far as possible. Shift work can be abolished for 60 employees. The investment volume amounts to about 11 million euros.
Dr Oliver Rong: “We are underpinning the very successful development of the company”
“In addition to the strategic development and expansion of production capacities in important international target markets, the company headquarters in Berching remains the largest production site of the HUBER Group,” said Dr Oliver Rong (Vice CEO, Chief Technical & Production Officer) in his speech at the official inauguration. “We are very positive about the future. With the further expansion of production capacities, we are underpinning the very successful development of the company and at the same time setting the course for HUBER’s future path. In our strategic production planning, we are already looking at additional expansion steps – we want to start building the P4 assembly and logistics hall very soon.”
Georg Huber: “Foundation stone for further growth and job security”
“With the site expansion and the expansion of production capacity, we are committing ourselves to our headquarters in Berching,” said Georg Huber (Chief Executive Officer and Chief Financial & Human Resources Officer). “With this, we are laying the foundation for further growth, combined with securing jobs here locally. Due to the positive market development, the next construction phase with production hall P4 is planned from the middle of the year.”
Detailed planning for another new production hall P4 underway
Meanwhile, detailed planning for the construction of the new P4 assembly and logistics hall is already underway. This hall, in which up to 25 workplaces are planned, will also have an area of approx. 6,000 m² including a small social area. It will enable the value stream-optimised processing of plastic components for filter and screen elements. In addition, the P4 will be used for the final assembly of HUBER belt dryer components and groups, the assembly of large-volume subassemblies and the logistical handling of large-scale projects. It will also be used as a warehouse and logistics hall.
Plans for a photovoltaic system on the roof of the P4, which is to supply sustainable energy, are currently underway. Construction is scheduled to begin as early as mid-2023, with completion planned for the second or third quarter of 2024. An investment volume of around 11.5 million euros has been calculated for the construction.
