MENA-Water MBR Complete Plants From Wastewater to Clear Water

MBR Package Plant for Sewage Treatment – From Sewage to Pure Irrigation Water

A membrane bioreactor (MBR) is a wastewater treatment process combining membrane filtration with biological treatment. This innovative technology offers several advantages compared with the conventionally activated sludge process.

Among these advantages are higher biomass concentration, eliminating the needs of secondary clarifiers and improved effluent quality.

MENA-Water package plants transform sewage to clear and high quality water. The small footprint of the treatment technology enables the systems to be integrated in natural, picturesque surroundings and to treat wastewater for irrigation use.

MENA-Water offers complete MBR package plants, pre-assembled as containerized system (ISO sizes). This facilitates easy transportation, fast availability and straight start-up of the MBR plant. Included inside the package housing are all main components such as:

  • Stainless steel membrane tank with modules and aeration system
  • Blowers for aeration tank and membrane scouring
  • Permeate pump, backwash and disinfection system
  • Process instrumentation, electrical control cabinet with PLC

For optimized performance of the entire plant, all necessary equipment for installation in the external structures is included in our scope of supply:

  • Equipment for lifting station and mechanical pre-treatment
  • Diffusers, pumps, mixers for biological treatment
  • Equipment for sludge treatment, grit and clean water pumping

If desired, MENA-Water provides comprehensive support for installation, start-up and maintenance activities and can consult anytime via remote monitoring from back office.

Beyond our MBR scope of supply, we can also offer solutions for further plant equipment such as:

  • Sludge treatment
  • Odor control
  • Mobile power generator
  • Containerized operator room

MENA-Water MBR package plants are capable to handle a wide range of capacities, starting from a daily throughput of a few cubic meters, reaching to some thousands of cubic meters per day. Our plants can be arranged custom-fit to serve your desired wastewater application.

Applications of the MENA-Water MBR sewage treatment plants

  • Common municipal sewage treatment
  • Independent sewage treatment system for stand-alone operation (hotels / business areas / housing complexes etc.)
  • Sanitation solution for outlying locations
  • Sanitation solution for close and densely populated residential areas due to minimized smell, dirt and footprint
  • Process step for industrial wastewater treatment
  • Pre-treatment step for reverse osmosis plants

FAQ

Frequently Asked Questions

A membrane filter usually consists of a polymer membrane that is attached to a carrier support. The pore size of an ultrafiltration membrane is in the range of 2 – 100 nm. While water molecules can pass through the membrane, activated sludge flocs and also smallest solid particles are retained.

The membrane surface is cleaned by the introduction of air. The air bubbles flow over the membrane surface and remove the adhering solids. Furthermore, the membrane is also backwashed or subjected to chemical cleaning as required.

The MBR (membrane bioreactor) or membrane activated sludge process has several advantages over conventional wastewater treatment according to the activated sludge process, because the secondary sedimentation tank is replaced by membrane filtration. Since membrane filtration is much more space-saving than a secondary clarifier, the space requirement is significantly reduced. In addition, the biomass concentration in the aeration tank can be increased, and membrane filtration ensures that the clarification process effluent is free of solids.

MBR is the abbreviation for membrane bioreactor. A membrane bioreactor is used for biological wastewater treatment and works according to the membrane activated sludge process.
