We will be highlighting two innovations for the future at Utility Live.

Recovery of thermal energy from municipal and industrial wastewater

Below ground is a hidden and seldom used source of energy, municipal wastewater with a temperature of at least 10 to 15 °C all year round.

Why use wastewater?

  • It offers enormous potential - Significant percentage of commercial and domestic space heating and cooling and hot water demand can be met using heat from wastewater.
  • It’s climate friendly - Reduces primary energy consumption by up to 50% and CO2 emission by up to 70% when compared with gas.
  • It needs no distribution network – Biggest wastewater volumes are generated where highest demand for energy is.
  • It will diversify the range of available renewables - This will lead to more competition resulting in decreased costs and more innovation.

HUBER Combined Storm water Overflow Screens – ROTAMAT® RoK1, RoK2

Both the HUBER Storm Screen RoK1 0° and 60° were introduced in 1995 and the HUBER Storm Screen RoK2 was introduced slightly later in 2003 – with 1500 UK installations. The main difference between the RoK 1 and RoK 2 is:

0° RoK1 screen – Located on the spill side of the weir this screen offers the lowest head solution for sensitive networks where any increase would be detrimental.

60° RoK1 screen – Mounted on top of the weir this screen is the go to one for low sided weir applications and when there is limited space behind the weir.

RoK2 screen – This upward flow screen is located on the wet side of the weir and is therefore ideal for high sided weir applications.

For any visitors looking for Storm screen solutions, come along and talk to us about HUBER’s solutions which have the following features and benefits-

  • Suitable for double digit spill flows up to 6,000 l/s
  • Standard modular design – 4 diameters & 625 mm incremental lengths up to 10m
  • IP68 II 2 G EE e II T4 geared motors – 0.63 to 2.2 KW
  • 6mm perforated plate
  • Lowest WLC
  • Simple, uncomplicated operation
  • 30 years’ experience with 1500 UK storm screen installations
  • Developed to meet WaPUG Guide (The Design of CSO chambers to Incorporate Screens)
  • WIMES compliant
  • 1500 UK installations
