HUBER SE further expands headquarters in Berching for the 150th anniversary of the company in 2022
Germany
HUBER SE is expanding its corporate headquarters in Berching in 2022: the groundbreaking ceremony is scheduled to take place within the next few months, with completion of the new building also planned for this year. The investment volume of the new production hall with a built-up area of 7,000 m² amounts to approximately nine million euros.
- With this expansion, the production capacities will increase to a total of approx. 35,000 m².
- Vice CEO Dr. Oliver Rong: “Expansion of the company headquarters is an expression of our positive business development and a clear commitment to the Berching location”
HUBER SE continues to expand its headquarters in Berching and will soon start building a new production hall. With the construction of the new hall with a total built-up area including staff rooms of 7,000 m², HUBER will expand the total production capacity at the company headquarters in Berching to about 35,000 m².
The two existing production halls are being expanded in the southern direction of the company premises. The new production hall will close an existing free space on the site between the HUBER Global Service hall and the P2 hall, thus making optimal use of the free-standing land in this area in the future.
Dr. Oliver Rong (Vice CEO and Chief Technical & Production Officer): “Site expansion a clear commitment to the Berching location”
“With the expansion of the site and the construction of the new production hall P3, we will take a further step towards a successful future,” says Dr. Oliver Rong, Vice CEO and Chief Technical & Production Officer of HUBER SE. “Our business development is very positive despite the challenging overall situation worldwide, the production machines and halls are fully utilised and we will therefore continue to grow. The expansion is a clear commitment to our company headquarters in Berching.”
Better working conditions and even more major projects: the new production hall has important tasks ahead of it
In the future, the hall will mainly be used as a body shop where HUBER machines are tacked and welded. The additional 80 workplaces in single-shift operation will further improve the working conditions for the employees in the long term: in addition to the expansion of the pure production areas, there will also be the possibility to gradually reduce shift work in shell construction or to even completely abolish it in some areas. Furthermore, the new hall will provide space for the production of large-volume machines in existing and new business fields. A number of new and innovative machines are currently being developed for these fields.
Relocation of welding workplaces and space for technological innovations
Among other things, welding workstations from the existing hall P1 will be relocated to the new hall. On the one hand, this will create necessary growth opportunities in other production areas, such as cutting and machining. On the other hand, HUBER creates space for technological manufacturing innovations, for example in the areas of automation and product segmentation. The successful and efficient use of welding robots is to be further expanded in the future: for example, the technological feasibility for welding screw shafts, which are used in many HUBER products, could be developed and tested with the help of a welding robot.
Groundbreaking decision in HUBER’s anniversary year 2022: construction documents submitted to the town of Berching
Exactly 30 years after the construction of the first production hall at the Berching-Erasbach site, HUBER is taking another step towards a successful future. At that time, in 1992, the company was based in the town centre of Berching and relocated its production to the current company headquarters. In the following years until today, the production facilities were expanded several times. In 2003 followed the construction of the new office building in Erasbach, which has also already been expanded, and in 2004 the HUBER Global Service service hall was built.
“The town of Berching congratulates HUBER and wishes them every success for the site expansion,” said Ludwig Eisenreich, Berching’s first mayor, during the official handover of the construction documents. “In HUBER’s anniversary year 2022, we are all the more pleased about the good business development and that HUBER is looking positively into the future.”
Focus on sustainable construction: HUBER attaches great importance to energy- and resource-saving construction
Hans-Jürgen Distler, the architect, urban planner and managing director of Distler Architekten + Ingenieure GmbH commissioned with the project, emphasised: “As a company operating in the water and environment sector, HUBER SE’s focus is clearly on sustainability. This is also reflected in the energy- and resource-saving construction of the new production hall.”
Final assembly and shipping: construction of another hall under consideration
As an additional construction measure in the areas of final assembly and dispatch, HUBER is currently examining the construction of a further hall, also in the southern area of the site. The concept, which can be extended in length, would be particularly suitable for use as an assembly and shipping hall, as well as for the processing of plastic screen elements. This could create growth opportunities in these areas in addition to the body shop/welding area.
