HUBER river intake screens - Helping you to ensure compliance with The Eels Regulations during AMP 8

UK water companies have identified water treatment works upgrades planned for AMP 8 as part of their Water Resource Management Plans. Several of these projects identify treatment works that require an increase in capacity and with that, new water intake screens.
Intake screens need to be “fish friendly” and demonstrate compliance with the Eels Regulations. HUBER is able to help with its range of fine screens which have been designed:
- To ensure zero carry over of debris
- To provide mesh sizes down to 1mm, suitable for preventing the smallest elvers passing through the screen.
- To ensure reliable operation with minimal maintenance requirements
- To minimise the environmental footprint during both the screen manufacturing process and through its operational life with energy efficient operation and longevity achieved through stainless steel construction
Each type of screen is available with a fish recovery and return (FRR) system that has been designed to safely remove fish prior to high pressure washing of the screen mesh. The screen installations are designed to provide large filtration areas and low approach velocities to comply with the Environment Agency’s best practice design guidelines.
These fine screens are not only suitable for water intakes for drinking water plants but also cooling water, process water and desalination plant intakes. They can be manufactured in different grades of stainless steel ranging from 304L to Super Duplex to suit each particular application.

HUBER Band Screen DualMax®
The HUBER DualMax® is an “out to in” band screen available with woven mesh or perforated plate with mesh size from 10mm down to 1mm.
For channel widths up to 6m and depths up to 18m.
Suitable for flows up 2400 Ml/D per screen.
It’s available with a fish bucket and fish return system.
The laminar flow emerging from the central outlet reduces downstream turbulence and allows for shorter channels prior to the extraction pump(s) and reduced construction costs.

HUBER Band Screen CenterMax®
The HUBER CenterMax® is an “in-out” band screen available with woven mesh or perforated plate with mesh size from 10mm down to 1mm.
For channel widths up to 4m and depths up to 18m.
Suitable for flows up 2400 Ml/D per screen.
It’s available with a fish bucket and fish return system.

HUBER Band Screen DiscMax®
The HUBER DiscMax® is a compact direct-flow screen available with woven mesh or perforated plate with mesh size from 10mm down to 1mm.
For channel widths up to 3.5m and depths up to 25m.
Suitable for flows up 1200 Ml/D per screen.
It’s available with a fish bucket and fish return system.
The laminar flow emerging from the downstream side of the screen reduces downstream turbulence and allows for shorter channels prior to the extraction pump(s) and reduced construction costs.
