Engineering Manager

We are now looking to fill this permanent position and for the right candidate to be based at our head office in Chippenham.

The role would suit a qualified and experienced Engineering Manager from an engineering background who is well organized and has strong management and leadership skills.

Reporting to the Head of Projects and Engineering, the right candidate will be responsible for the management of both Mechanical & Electrical Design Engineers. They will be accountable for the development of both standard product and project specific designs for HUBER machines in compliance with the relevant specifications whilst supporting projects department.

Overall objectives for this role:

  • Develop technically sound and commercially viable design packages for standard applications.
  • Ensure that the performance of the Electrical & Mechanical Design Engineers meet the customers’ expectations in terms of quality and service and the company’s expectations in terms of commercial viability.
  • Promote a team-based mentality between the employees in the Electrical & Mechanical Design Engineers and with other departments to provide integrated solutions.

Your core responsibilities are as follows:

  • Introduction of new technologies and roll out of new products.
  • Develop standard design packages based around HUBER products that provide well-engineered cost effective solutions for customers.
  • Run trials in conjunction with the Process Development Manager to validate equipment performance and to develop product enhancements.
  • Provide standard technical documentation for HUBER products i.e. manuals, drawings, product structures, test schedules etc.
  • Oversee control panel design in terms of standard and project specific solutions.
  • Optimise the use of electrical & mechanical design resources by scheduling workloads.
  • Monitor the output of the department with respect to design, assembly and material costs.
  • Recruit temporary staff or outsource activities to ensure fixed deadlines are met.
  • Compliance with technical standards.
  • Review and maintain standard specifications (i.e. WIMES specs, water company standard specs. etc.) and check compliance of HUBER products.
  • Provide standard comment sheets for use on tenders and projects.
  • Evaluate the training needs of employees within your remit.
  • Liaise with the HR Manager to recruit employees within your remit.
  • Monitor, appraise and motivate the employees within your remit.

Your profile:

  • You will hold an HNC/ HND or higher in an engineering discipline and currently hold a management position in the relevant field.
  • Be competent in reading/reviewing engineering drawings and technical specifications and have some working knowledge of CAD.
  • You will have experience in both the design and fabrication of machinery/ equipment.
  • You enjoy working with a variety of people and are confident to build relationships with clients.
  • You have strong managerial and leadership skills.
  • You will be an effective communicator, at all levels, with the ability to work closely with internal and external stakeholders within HUBER Technology.
  • You are IT literate.
  • You hold a clean UK driving licence.
