Drinking Water Treatment

Process engineering solutions for the treatment of drinking water

In order to meet the quality requirements for drinking water, more or fewer stages of physical and/or chemical treatment are required, depending on the nature of the raw water.

Typical possible treatment steps in drinking water treatment are the removal of iron, manganese as well as deacidification and decarbonisation. Precipitation, flocculation and filtration remove solids and suspended matter. Adsorption processes using activated carbon remove dissolved organic compounds. Germs, bacteria and viruses are eliminated by disinfection processes (e.g. chlorine, ozone). For very salty raw water, reverse osmosis systems or ion exchangers can be used.

HUBER solutions for the treatment of drinking water

Mechanical-physical processes: HUBER offers comprehensive solutions for the separation of all kinds of solids. Coarse material as well as small solids and suspended particles can be removed efficiently and reliably.

Package plant for drinking water: The SafeDrink package plant from Mena-Water is a containerised system that integrates all the necessary components for drinking water treatment in one compact system. Coagulation, flocculation, sedimentation, filtration and disinfection are used as process steps.

Reverse osmosis: The Mena-Water package plant with reverse osmosis systems is capable of removing dissolved salts and other impurities such as bacteria, sugars, proteins, dyes and high molecular weight compounds.
