Stadtwerke Bielefeld continue to invest into HUBER products for the refurbishment of water reservoirs
Stadtwerke Bielefeld GmbH are a modern multi-utility company. With the city of Bielefeld (50.1%) and Bremer swb AG (49.9%) as partners, their priority is to meet customer and market requirements. With about 1,280 employees and a turnover of 700 million euros a year they are one of the big German municipal suppliers of energy, heat and drinking water.
Stadtwerke Bielefeld supply the drinking water for about 320,000 residents and 1,500 industrial companies in the city of Bielefeld itself, plus for about 40,000 people living in the greater Bielefeld area. In 2010, drinking water consumption was about 17.3 million m³. The total length of the distribution network is 1,503 km.
In the field of water production the activities of Stadtwerke Bielefeld focus on the operation, new construction, reconstruction and deconstruction of its 16 water production plants and 157 wells. Other plants within their responsibility:
- 4 water treatment plants
- 10 pumping stations
- 18 pressure change plants
- 24 water reservoirs
- 17 water transfer and takeover stations including pipelines
Stadtwerke Bielefeld continuously carry out refurbishments and reconstruction work and build new facilities. They also upgrade pipelines and conveyor systems to state-of-the-art level and take measures to improve the energy efficiency of their facilities.
Cast iron and steel pipes are replaced with stainless steel pipes and various HUBER products installed:
- Safety doors
- Manhole covers
- Air filter units
- Safety climbing ladders
- Fitting and enlarging pieces
- and fittings
Products made of 1.4571 or 1.4404 stainless steel are used for components in contact with water. For other applications they use 1.4301 or 14307 stainless steel products.
Stadtwerke Bielefeld attach great importance to high hygiene standards and therefore plan to install HUBER air filter plants in all their water reservoirs. The size of air filter plants to be used depends on reservoir volume and reservoir management.
We would like to take this opportunity to thank Stadtwerke Bielefeld for their confidence in our products. Special thanks go to Bernd Niehaus, Peter Hildebrand and Harald Necke for their excellent cooperation right from the beginning, from the planning phase to project execution.
